Oh Mickey what a pity, you don't understand
You take me by the heart when you POKE me by the hand
Oh Mickey, you're so pretty can't you understand?
It's plants like you, Mickey!
Alright, we couldn't resist a little #tbt here, but we like our plants with a side of 80's earworm-y pop and this adorable little Mickey Mouse cactus just inspires a little Toni Basil! We've shipped Mickey to you bundled up for safekeeping - follow our top tips below for keeping him oh so fine! We've also sent you our favorite Los Angeles candle from our good friends at PF Candle Co. - not only does this smell gorgeous (hello jasmine, sea salt and sage!) but it does good too! 20% of the proceeds benefit the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles which helps women transition out of homelessness.
This prickly lil' cactus, officially known as the Opuntia Microdasys, (that's Mickey, for short) is one of our fav cacti ever! Like most of his prickly friends, this dude is super easy to care for. Water him with 1/4 cup of water once a week and find him a home with medium to bright indirect light- we think he's happiest around three feet from a sunny window!
Mind the spines! All cacti (even fuzzy, sweet Mickey) have spikes that can prick your fingers and really hurt! Be especially careful when you get up close and personal with this little guy! Pro-tip: If you happen to brush this bad boy, we recommend using duct tape (sticky-side down) to gently pat your skin and help remove all the teeny, tiny barbs!
We shipped Mickey to you snug as a bug in a rug for safe passage. Unwrap the bubble wrap and then pull the bagged cacti up and out of the ceramic pot. Find the end of the white tape gently pull to remove the tape. Slip the bag off the cactus and plastic pot. If the tape is being finicky, you can also enlist some help from scissors, but mind the plant! Gently grasp the edge of the plastic pot and drop it into the ceramic vessel! So easy, it will blow you mind (see what we did there?)
