We're pretty open for our love of the chillier months here at Farmgirl Flowers but we know not everyone shares our love sweater weather. If you're counting down the days until the first rites of spring, this sweet and simple arrangement is for you! Celebrate the eventual thaw with a pairing of a handful of ranunculus and a lavender-scented candle from our friends at Kobo! Follow our top tips below for arranging and caring for your very own signs of spring!
First, unwrap your flowers and vase, get your hands on scissors, shears or even a sharp kitchen knife and fill your vase 3/4 full with cool tap water and the contents of your flower food pack. Prepare each stem for the vase by removing all the leaves that fall below the waterline. Save the scraps! We love the little buds and shorter bits for styling miniature bud vases for other rooms in your house!
Time to get arranging! When you're making a minimal arrangement like this, we like to work one bloom at a time. Measure each bloom against the side of the vase then trim to the desired length. Pro Tip: work from the outside in, placing the taller stems around the edge and grouping the shorties in the center! Aim to have the shortest stems around 1" or 2" above the lip of the vase. Word to the wise - go slowly here! You can always give a stem another trim but you can't grow it back!
Last touches! Remember - you're the designer! Trim any stems and rearrange or remove blooms as you see fit!
Find a home for your hard work! Choose a spot that doesn't get too much direct sunlight or get too warm (heat and sun will force your flowers open very quickly)! Daily water changes and stem trims will ensure your blooms stay hydrated and help them to live their best life!
