So the pie isn't perfect, your gravy split and your father in-law is practicing all of his new "material" on the coworker you took in for the holiday. Can it really be Thanksgiving without a few micro disasters? Cut that pie into wedges (decorated generously with some whipped cream!), pull out that gravy seasoning mix from the back of your pantry and enlist your father in-law to get stirring. You've got this! While you're killing the turkey day game, go over the top with our secret sauce for a picture perfect holiday - our Hostess with the Mostess tablescape. Follow our top tips below to get from real basic to Real Simple in the time it takes for that packet gravy to cook up!
What we've shipped: a six foot, all foliage, green garland, four tealight candles and a selection of seasonal fruit.
What you'll need: free hands, a full heart (and maybe a glass of your favorite holiday beverages) and any other special elements you want to include on your tablescape!
Unfurl your garland and place it down the middle of your table, mantle or surface of your choice. This setup will be tricky to move once it's all assembled so do yourself a favor and find it a permanent home now! We packed your garland up tightly for transit. It's in dire need of a little zhush! Working against the direction of the stems, gently work your fingers toward the center of your garland and add some air between the leaves.
Time to release your inner Martha! Add your fruit to your garland, staggering their placement for a casual, easy vibe. Keep your future feast in mind as you place - leaving room for your platters and plates will save you some last minute reshuffling!
Next, time to add a little ambiance! Add the tealights to your tablescape. We like to scatter these the length of the garland to ensure everyone gets a little light. Warning! The copper vessel the tealights come nestled within gets very hot the touch once the candle has been lit. Keep away from the kiddo end of the table and let these rest for 30 minutes to an hour after snuffing the flame before touching.
Last looks! Zhush your garland, move any fruit or candles as you see fit! This is also the perfect time to add any of your own elements to the tablescape. We love how this looks with one or two larger candles and a few bud vases with blooms and bits! However you style it, we'd love for you to show it off!
