San Francisco/California Shelter In Place Mandate:
For context, on Monday, March 16th we received the news of the San Francisco county shelter-in-place mandate that was to go in effect that night at midnight. As a non-essential business, we were ordered to cease operations. In order to be able to fulfill the rest of the week’s orders for our customers, we transferred all deliveries for Wednesday through Friday of this week to our newly-opened distribution center in Ecuador.
The fulfillment timeline from Ecuador to our recipients here in the states is longer as the boxes have many more miles to cover than they do when they leave from SF. We’ve also been experiencing some minor transit delays due to COVID-19 related slowdowns with our shipping carriers.
Additionally, while our South American team is top-notch, with the quick operational change we needed to make on Monday we did not have the time to set up the same supply chain in Ecuador that we have access to in California. That means certain hard goods, like vases, and other treats like our popcorn and candies were not able to be shipped with your order. That also may mean we had to make a substitution for your arrangement in cases where items like our Vase, Vase Baby or single-variety arrangements with vases were chosen. In these cases, the substitutions we made were of equal or greater value than to the original arrangement chosen and included some extra stems of flowers as a token of our apology.
